The name plays on “grand” and “ground.” It’s made from a high-density 10-wale Japanese corduroy with a double pile, heavily washed for a rugged, worn-in look. Inside, a fine high-density cotton lines the body and cupro lines the sleeves, as in a tailored jacket, and there are inside pockets. Made in Japan, it’s a casual jacket with the finish of tailoring.
